The power of an idea, the ability to inspire others to work hard, and the creative use of resources are hallmarks of my leadership style. Highlights include: Co-Chair of the “Energy, Agriculture and the Environment” Plank of the National Republican Platform, 2012; Member of the Steering Committee for “No on GMO Labeling Initiative”; Competitive cover cropping technologies Equip grant recipient, 2012-2014; Key spokesperson for the “Save our Dams” campaign 1998-2000; Co-Own third generation farm in Garfield County, Washington; Owner and Manager of family forest in Cowlitz County, Washington.
I am enjoying the challenge, and see the immense possibilities, where my passion and creativity are very effective in the legislative conversation. In a very short time, with my unique leadership style, I have gained the respect of colleagues and the support of business leaders in Olympia and across our district. I know that I am capable and willing to advocate and lead for the important industries that drive the economy in Eastern Washington. I value people and their unique lives here in our region, and will fight for our infrastructure, our schools, hospitals, and main streets. I am fierce when it comes to speaking for our cause, as I recognize how fragile our way of life is against forces that would sequester the natural and economic resources that are our region’s life-blood. I seek this office because I believe in the power of one voice from a real community to change the trajectory of our state.
I have especially enjoyed this brief time in the State Legislature and have been excited to use the talent and skills developed in farming and volunteering for causes important to Eastern Washington. The relationships and passion that I share with other people in industry and leadership, has helped me as I transition to this new and exciting journey.
