Larry Haler was first elected to the Washington State Legislature in 2004.
He is respected in the legislature as a veteran leader who works tirelessly for those he represents.
Voters recognize him as a champion for open and honest communication. Larry established the 8th District’s first local legislative office and he constantly seeks input from citizens through emails, at coffee hours and town hall meetings.
Representative Haler has earned a leadership role as Ranking Member of the Higher Education Committee. He serves on the Ways and Means Committee and the Technology, Energy, and Communications Committee.
He opposes general tax increases, favors limited growth of government, and favors fewer regulations and fewer taxes on small businesses.
Larry was a licensed nuclear reactor operator who managed nuclear reactor training and served as a docent for Hanford’s historic B-Reactor.
He was a Richland City Council member for 14 years and Richland’s mayor for 4 years.
Larry graduated from Pacific Lutheran University. He holds BA and MBA degrees. He lives with his wife Jenifer in Richland.
