Brad Klippert is running for reelection for the Washington State House of Representatives in the 8th Legislative District.
Brad was born and raised in Sunnyside, Washington, Brad graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1975 then went on to college and played a year of soccer at Northwest College in Kirkland and a year of football at Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri. He returned from Missouri to farm with family in the Sunnyside area.
Brad attended and graduated from the Columbia Basin College Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program and then on to Central Washington University Paramedic Program where he graduated as a nationally certified paramedic. He worked as an EMT and a paramedic firefighter before joining the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department in 1984. He worked for Pierce County as a Correctional Officer and then a Patrol Deputy for 6 years. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department awarded Brad the Medal of Valor because of heroic actions taken on June 17, 1987.
In 1987 Brad joined the United States Army Reserves. He was awarded the Commanding Generals Award for Military Excellence in 1988 and was an honor graduate of his Captain’s Career Course. Brad was deployed with the Army
Reserves in both Haiti (Operation Uphold Democracy) and Bosnia (Operation Joint Forge). He also served in support of Operation Noble Eagle as the Operations Officer responsible for Army Air Evacuation for the eastern half of the United
States. While in Haiti Brad served as a Detachment Commander of a Chinook Helicopter Unit. While there Brad flew a school and a hospital to remote mountain villages and flew the Vice President of the United States and the
President of Haiti, playing an integral part in the Haitian Nation’s first opportunity in history to have a democratically elected president.
Brad returned to Northwest College, Kirkland, WA, in 1991, with his wife Kim, and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a double major of Behavioral Science and Biblical Studies. During this time Brad also became a licensed minister. Brad went on from there to get his Masters Degree in Teaching at City University, Tacoma.
Brad currently is working for the Benton County Sheriff’s Department as a School Resource Officer at the Kiona-Benton City School District during the school year and a Patrol Deputy when school is not in session. He serves with the Army National Guard and holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Brad is also an adjunct facility member at Columbia Basin College. He and Kim have three children, Alexis, Aubrey Jo, and Mason.
