“Small business is the engine that drives our economy. Small business employs 51.7% of our private workforce! It is smart to help them with reduced taxes and regulation so they can employ more and help give working families a living wage.
Let’s be honest, no one likes to pay taxes, yet Washington is in the middle of a tax happy feeding frenzy and no one is more affected than the working poor. The working poor are heavily burdened by taxes making it almost impossible to break free from the grip of government programs. An example, property tax, you might think it doesn’t affect the working poor but when it goes up typically it is passed on to the renter so ultimately they pay property tax too. I makes it so many struggling families seek out subsidized housing. Sales taxes take another big chunk of their income, ST3 raised the sales tax along with tab fees, add that to local sales tax increases and they end up caught in the vicious cycle of tax and spend making them dependent on the government. I will work to lower taxes and find ways for small business to thrive so that more folks can earn a family living wage. We must give the working poor a better opportunity to succeed.” -Terry Harder
